Pepper opens sharp and dry, then incense settles its church smoke. Vanilla only arrives last, barely sweet, just enough to round the corners without truly softening anything.

Incense as the leading accord is rare here: nine sheets in all. This is the only Penhaligon's to lead with it — The Inimitable William Penhaligon carries it without putting it first. The vanilla underneath makes it more wearable day to day than the dry incenses, without costing it its 8 for longevity.
