William Penhaligon, a Cornish barber, left Penzance for London and opened his shop at 66 Jermyn Street in 1870. His first fragrance, Hammam Bouquet, followed in 1872. The house has been granted four Royal Warrants, the first by Queen Alexandra in 1903.
