Not rated yet — be the firstThe masculine counterpart to The One, this 2008 eau de toilette was filed under spicy-woody at launch. The structure is short and easy to follow: a citrus-herbal opening of grapefruit, coriander and basil, a heart of cardamom and ginger whose warmth leans toward spiced biscuit, then a base of cedar, tobacco and ambergris. The heart is what carries the identity here; orange blossom does little more than soften the edges. Olivier Polge composed it for approachability rather than statement, which places it squarely in cold-weather, everyday territory, with average lasting power and a deliberately quiet sillage. One caveat: the note list Dolce & Gabbana and its retailers publish for this eau de toilette today — basil, lavender, clary sage, sandalwood — is no longer the one recorded at launch, and no open source dates that change.
