Renaissance is the first fragrance of the 1861 line, released for the 150th anniversary of Italian unification. Its opening is a cluster of citrus: Calabrian bergamot, mandarin, lemon, bitter orange and petitgrain. Mint, lily of the valley and Bulgarian rose keep the heart light. The base is quieter, resting on cedarwood, patchouli, amber and musk.

Longevity 6 and projection 5: the lowest figures in this batch, and the thing to know before buying. Carry a travel spray, or accept it as a half-day scent. In exchange, four or five sprays carry no risk here. Citrus at 92 over fresh at 84, spring and summer, office included. Exactly unisex at 50/100. The mint at the heart keeps it green rather than sweet.
