Honey leads at 86 ahead of oud at 78, and that order decides everything: the wood is the counterweight to the sweetness, not the reverse. Two sprays, projection 7, longevity 9 — no top-up across an evening. Autumn and winter; in heat a honeyed accord this dense turns heavy. Barely unisex at 48/100. Dinners and dates rather than a working day, where the sweetness gets noticed more than it gets liked.
Mamluk
Extrait · 2012
Not rated yet — be the firstMamluk opens on honey, caramel and Calabrian bergamot. Jasmine, osmanthus and Laotian benzoin form the heart. The base rests on Madagascar vanilla, amber and Laotian oud — which Xerjoff names in its own copy without listing it in the published pyramid. Here the oud works as a foundation for a honeyed accord rather than the other way round.
