Al-Khatt opens on Calabrian bergamot and jasmine sambac. Cashmeran holds the heart on its own, giving the composition its woody, musky texture. Bangladeshi oud, Laotian benzoin and vanilla make up the base. Xerjoff describes that base as anchored by several grades of oud, from Laos, Bangladesh and Assam.

OlfIA

The most approachable oud of the five: 86, backed by vanilla at 72 that rounds off the edge. It is the only one in the group listed for casual wear, and that follows — projection 7, longevity 8, without Gao's density or Zafar's reach. Two sprays. Autumn and winter. Unisex at 55/100. A sensible starting point if oud is new ground, rather than Gao, which already assumes the habit.
