Not rated yet — be the firstPolo Blue is the mass-market aquatic with which Ralph Lauren extended the Polo franchise at the turn of the 2000s. Its signature is the opening: a watery melon-and-cucumber accord — the house writes it as cantaloupe — lifted by bergamot, reading as juicy rather than saline. The heart pulls the composition back toward the aromatic — clary sage, geranium, basil — which keeps the fruit from turning sweet. What sets it apart from the marine scents of its era is the base, where a washed suede accord sits over woody patchouli and sheer musk and gives the drydown a soft, worn texture instead of an ozonic one. This is warm-weather construction, built for immediate legibility rather than for development.
