The Eyes of the Tiger rests on amber, which Gucci links to a Chinese tradition holding the material to be the tiger's soul, sunk into the earth and turned to stone. Benzoin and tonka bean give it a dark vanilla facet, cistus resin a woody edge. It is one of the seven eaux de parfum in The Alchemist's Garden, all composed by Alberto Morillas.

Amber at 90 over balsamic at 76: four materials only, all resinous, with no citrus or flower to open. One or two sprays — an amber this dense arrives before you do. Projection 6, longevity 7. Autumn and winter, evenings and dates. Unisex at 52/100. The cistus at the heart is what keeps it from being merely a vanilla accord.
