Envy was released in 1997 and composed by Maurice Roucel. It is a green floral built on hyacinth, whose wet stemmy smell carries the opening alongside bergamot, peach and pineapple. Magnolia, freesia, jasmine, lily of the valley, violet and rose form the heart, while iris, cedar, sandalwood, oakmoss and musk close it without warming it. It has been discontinued, and the bottles still in circulation are old stock.

OlfIA

Floral at 90 over green at 82: hyacinth gives this bouquet a cut-stem smell that keeps it from turning sweet. Longevity 6, projection 5 — a half-day scent, so plan a top-up. Three or four sprays carry no risk. Spring and summer, office included. Distinctly feminine at 10/100. The oakmoss base dates it to the 1990s, and that is exactly what makes it interesting now.
