A marine built from plants rather than salt: basil, ginger and mint, then seaweed at the heart over sandalwood and moss. It stays cool from start to finish, never warming up.

OlfIA

Wear it in daylight, through spring and summer. Moderate longevity and projection, a notch below the other Bond No. 9 bottles here: two or three sprays do at the office, but a midday reapplication is needed to reach the evening. The only one of the five suited to sport, it is also the only one its markers keep away from dinner and dates, since nothing warms up late in the wear. Next to Greenpoint, more floral in the same season, Island asks for a taste for herbal freshness; anyone expecting abstract salty blue will find it too vegetal.
