Wasser trained as a botanist before attending the Givaudan perfumery school, and joined Firmenich in 1993. In 2008 Wasser became Guerlain's in-house perfumer, succeeding Jean-Paul Guerlain — the fifth perfumer to hold that role at the house, and the first from outside the founding family. The work extends past composition to sourcing: Wasser oversees Guerlain's raw materials from the harvest through to the finished bottle.
