The house was founded in New York in 1837 by Charles Lewis Tiffany and grew into a jeweller of international renown. Its first fragrance, Tiffany, appeared in 1987; after Pure Tiffany in 2003 it left perfumery, returning only in 2017 under a Coty licence.
